Last updated 25 September 2026

OH Gear Up (Pty) Ltd (“OH Gear Up”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

In short

  • We collect only what we need to answer your enquiry, register delegates and run our training and services.
  • We never sell your personal information.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or stop marketing messages, at any time by emailing info@ohgearup.com.

01Who we are

OH Gear Up (Pty) Ltd is a South African provider of occupational hygiene training, mentorship and compliance services, and an OHTA approved training provider. We are the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at info@ohgearup.com or +27 13 110 5086.

02What this policy covers

This policy applies to personal information we collect through our website ohgearup.com, our course registration and enquiry forms, lead forms on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram, and when you contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp.

03Information we collect

  • Contact details: your name, email address and phone number.
  • Work details: your job title and the organisation you work for.
  • Enquiry and registration details: the course you are interested in, who will attend, the number of delegates, and the delegate details needed to register them and issue certificates, such as full names as they should appear on certificates.
  • Payment information: payments are processed by our payment provider, Yoco. We receive confirmation of payment, but we do not receive or store your full card details.
  • Website usage information: technical information such as your browser type, the pages you visit and how you arrived at our site, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Communications: the messages you send us and our replies.

04How we collect it

  • Directly from you, when you complete a form, register for a course, request a quotation or contact us.
  • From LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram, when you submit one of our lead forms on those platforms. The platform passes the information you chose to submit to us.
  • From your employer, when your organisation registers you as a delegate.
  • Automatically, through cookies when you use our website.

05Why we use it

We process personal information only for specific, lawful purposes, namely to:

  • respond to your enquiry and send you course outlines, dates and quotations;
  • register delegates, administer training, assessments and certificates;
  • process and confirm payments and keep proper financial records;
  • share delegate names and assessment results with the course accreditation body, the Occupational Hygiene Training Association (OHTA), where this is required for certification;
  • tell you about future courses and services, where you have agreed to this or are an existing client (you can opt out at any time);
  • improve our website, courses and services; and
  • comply with our legal obligations.

We rely on your consent, the need to take steps at your request before entering into a contract with you, the performance of our contract with you or your employer, compliance with the law, and our legitimate interests in running and improving our business, as permitted by section 11 of POPIA.

06Direct marketing

We will only send you marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them or if you are an existing client and the messages relate to similar training or services. Every marketing message tells you how to opt out, and you can also opt out at any time by emailing info@ohgearup.com.

07Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only where necessary with:

  • service providers who help us operate, such as our website host, email provider and payment provider, under agreements that require them to keep it secure and confidential;
  • the course accreditation body, where required for certification;
  • advertising platforms such as LinkedIn and Meta, only in the form those platforms already collect when you interact with our adverts; and
  • authorities, where the law requires us to.

08Transfers outside South Africa

Some of our service providers, including website, email and advertising platforms, may store or process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information is protected to a standard comparable to POPIA, as required by section 72 of the Act.

09How we protect it

We take appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to prevent the loss of, damage to, or unauthorised access to your personal information. These include access controls, password protection and limiting access to people who need the information to do their work.

10How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including to verify certificates and training records, and to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements. After that, we delete or de-identify it.

11Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you and request a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct or update information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep;
  • object to the processing of your information, including for direct marketing;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent; and
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@ohgearup.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

12Cookies

Our website uses cookies to work properly and to help us understand how visitors use it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may then not work as intended.
